Looking for Lunch in Sonoma, Kenwood, Glen Ellen Area

My friend is taking his wife out for a Saturday lunch to celebrate her big 4-0. The rest of us are meeting them afterwards for continued celebration and cake. Any recommendations for their lunch? Something nice and special. Price most likely not important. Thanks.

  1. I highly recommend Kenwood Restaurant in Kenwood. One of my favorite places, nice patio. I like the fact that the lunch menu is the same as dinner menu...same prices, etc. You don't have to settle for an abbreviated lunch menu like most places. Warning...portions are very large.

    1. I have always enjoyed La Salette just off the Square in Sonoma; simple, delicious, different--it is Portuguese cuisine. Or, Girl & Fig, across the square, more upscale, California cuisine. Or, El Dorado Kitchen, a few doors away, more elegant cuisne, more upscale.

I second the La Salette suggestion. They are a bit hard to find tucked away as they are on the back side of the central square, and the front of the menu will look boring (or at least un-Portruguese in a chicken caesar salad and sandwiches kind of way) but delve deeper and you will find excellent home made cheese, grilled linguica sausage and an excellent if not too appealing sounding sardine paté. Pork with clam stew and other traditional Portuguese items are well worth the effort. The outdoor patio and the interesting wine list add further interest

      2. Doce Lunas is Kenwood is outstanding. I can find a website or a menu but you can find TONS of great reviews online. I will let you know if I get ahold of a menu...
