local bakery that ships internationally

my friend is working europe this summer and spending her birthday away from her friends and family. i would love to send her a box of her favorite - red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

if there are no local bakeries that do this, does anyone know of a good not-local bakery that does this? a website would be great.

and worst case scenario - if there are no bakeries that can do this - is there a specific kind of brand of boxed ready-to-bake red velvet cake mixes that is better than most others? and where would i be able to find such a cake mix?

i thank you in advance!

  1. If you get a cake mix, get Duncan Hines, they are the best. You can also use milk instead of water in the mix, or go 1/2 milk, 1/2 sour cream for added richness and moiisture. Due a basic cream cheese frosting 2 part cc and 1 part butter, suagar & vanilla maybe add some chopped pecans on top.

    1. It's a lovely thought, but I doubt cupcakes would survive a trip overseas. Especially ones with cream cheese frosting.

If your friend is in or around London, the Hummingbird Bakery (www.hummingbirdbakery.com) makes great American-style baked goods, including red velvet cupcakes. Perhaps they can help you.

      1. Sprinkles sells cupcake mix, including red velvet, although I'm not sure if it has frosting mix. (It mentions it has the "dots" so maybe it does have frosting too.) They have it in the store, and I've also seen it at Williams Sonoma. Looks like you can also order it for shipping if you call: http://www.sprinklescupcakes.com/gift...
