San Jose Saturday lunch?

Looking for something on the nicer side to take the father-in-law to. Probably not ethnic unless it is Spanish/Mexican. They live near Santana Row so that's convenient, but we've been to most of places there and I'm not too excited about heading back. Anything good downtown?

I'm open to short drives to other surrounding areas.

  1. Any thoughts on Arcadia, the Mina outpost?

It's not bad. I just went there a couple of weeks ago. It's like a cheaper Michael Mina, but they've still got some of his favorites like the lobster pot pie and the tuna sashimi.
The corn chowder is pretty tasty. The filet mignon is decent, but nothing to write home about.

    2. How about a short drive to Los Gatos? Jump on 880 to 17 to 9 and make a left on Santa Cruz Ave. There's Restaurant James Randall, Los Gatos Cafe, Willow Street, Fleur de CaCao (sp?), and California Cafe, Steamer's, etc on University Ave.
