Happy garden in Somerville? Late night Delivery Chinese?
OK, this place wasn't at all good. In fact, it was poor quality americanized chinese food. BUT, it was open late and delivered and hit the spot when I'm drunk. I tried ordering the other night, but the phone number was disconnected. Anyone know if this place is actually still open or what's the deal w/ it?
If its not still open (and even if it is), anyone have suggestions for chinese places that will deliver crappy americanized food later on in the night and deliver to the central/harvard area of cambridge? There's the hong kong but I try not to order from there. Most places seem to close by 10-11. I know there's Nan Ling across the river that'll deliver even, but they charge $3 or something to deliver here.
My drunken munchies need your help!

Kee Kar Lau (Teele Sq, Somerville) is on foodler and delivers until 2:30am on weekends. It's exactly what you'd expect from late night drunken Chinese food. We usually get a mish mosh of appetizers and split an order of orange chicken. It's horrible, but in that perfect way that you crave at 2am on a Saturday.

re: cambridgejen
Sadly, foodler says they won't deliver to me. Looking at their actual menu online, it says "north cambridge" and I'm closer to central/harvard. Ah well, that looks to be just the sort of nasty goodness I crave at times. Not a huge deal though, I've already started changing up to other crappy food options when getting home at 2+am :)

I shudder to recommend, but if you can get beyond Chinese, try Dial-A-Pizza. They'll deliver practically anywhere, even after 2am, and they offer relatively gross pies for $5.

I think Dial A Pizza is pretty good actually. I'd rather have gobs of cheese and grease than no flavor at all. After Emma's, Cambridge One, Armando's, and Il Panino, I'd have to say Dial-A-Pizza is my next favorite pizza in Cambridge/Somerville. (Top Speed, Crazy Dough, and Pinocchio's are also in the mix here.) But don't get me wrong: I recommend it hesitantly, and only for desperatish delivery.

So far as I can tell, Dial-A-Pizza actually closes up shop at midnight (or earlier) every night. It's definitely not an option for munchies after a weekend night out. You may be thinking of Pizza Ring, which is open until 2:00 AM.
Moreover, both really, really suck. Shame on the poster who called it "pretty good actually." Dial-A-Pizza is marginally less disgusting, but Pizza Ring is laughably bad. The bread recalls cardboard, the toppings are rotten, and the service is atrocious. After midnight, your pie will be delivered, at least 30 minutes late, by a woman with the sort of attitude you'd expect from someone who delivers $7 pizzas for a living.
As the original poster said, Cambridge late-night delivery is horrendous. That Pizza Ring has even been able to stay in business demonstrates how bad the options are here. If you're drunk and it's late and you're near the Square, go to the Kong and get some greasy Chinese. Otherwise, the delivery options are really not worth staying up.
Here's my question: in a college town like this, how can it be that there is no decent late-night delivery place? I'd be happy to learn that there is. Otherwise, if there's anyone out there looking to make some money, I suggest opening the first decent late-night pizza shop within 100 miles of Boston.

Wang's in Somerville is open 'till 1 every morning and offers free delivery. Although they're known on Chowhound for their excellent northern-style Chinese, you can get as inauthentic and Americanized as you can stand. General Gau and his army of deep fried glop await your command. Who knows...maybe you'll even start sneaking in the occasional order of homemade pork and leek dumplings when you drunk dial.

Cambridge late night delivery (and perhaps delivery in general) is awful. Happy Garden can be decent and is probably the best local late night option, hate to break it to you. The decent things I've ordered there are Singapore rice noodles and Indonesian fried rice. Note that even these decent items have ranged in quality, from marginally acceptable to pretty darn good. I have had the same issue with the phone as you. I don't know what's going on, but I think it's still available for ordering online at Foodler and Campusfood. (BTW, these sites will list roughly 90% of your delivery options.)
There is a new place called Noodle Stix that has some potential, but I am not recommending it. I think it delivers until midnight. Actually, I'd take my chances with that over Happy Garden; I'm just pissed they screwed up my order at midnight.
Some college town!

re: aventinus
After some poking around - foodler & such point to a happy garden in Brighton w/ the exact same menu. I wonder if they moved. Either way, that one doesn't deliver to me. I did find a place called 'lucky star' in medford which purportedly will deliver to me.
And yes, the reason why I'm so hopped up on happy garden was that out of the late night options, it was really my favorite. Heck, once in a while it even hit the spot when I wasn't in some altered state.

I had Lucky Star once. It was kind of OK. I hesitate to order from some of the places that are listed on those sites because I think some restaurants end up with wider delivery areas than they're happy with. A Medford driver probably isn't going to know his way around Cambridge.
