Vegas and gourmet chocolate?

Where would you go to pick up amazing individual chocolates, or even imported bar chocolate that is beyond the ordinary? I'm thinking of amazing taste combinations, pure artistry -- is that too much to ask? I'm guessing that one of the hotels on the strip may have something like that, but don't know Vegas -- please help!

Cheers and thanks a million.

The newest Jean Philippe Patissere in Aria at City Center has some pretty tasty chocolates. In addition, there is a gift shop located diagonally across from it that has some very nice chocolate bars. Drink some delicious Aztec Elixir at Vosges Haut Chocolat at the Forum Shops. This beverage consists of a mixture of dark chocolate, Mexican vanilla, cinammon and chipole. And don't forget to taste locally made Ethyl M chocolates at their pink-and-brown chocolate lounge in the Fashion Show mall.

I haven't tried any myself but I picked up some chocolate at Le Notre in the Paris for my mom on our last trip. She really liked it. Have also picked up some from Jean-Phillipe at Bellagio as gifts which received good reviews from the recipients.

I think there's also a chocolatier at the Venetian? Don't remember which brand but there's a counter off the casino floor that I seem to remember. And a Teuscher at the Aladdin(Planet Hollywood now).

The only one we pick up for ourselves actually is the Vosges. Our petsitter loves it so we always stop in and get her some and usually pick up a few truffles or bars for ourselves. Enjoy trying the different and unique variations. Our favorites are the ones with the chile peppers.

Went to Chocolat at the Wynn last week. $10 got me one truffle & a dark chocolate dome dessert. IThe only really unusual truffle he has was an Earl Grey. I am not a fan of that tea & the person at the counter even admitted that it was not a favorite. It was OK but for the price, next time I would try Vosges in Cesears.

That sounds good! How does it compare to Chocolat at the Wynn or that place at Bellagio, it it called Jacques-something-or-other?

I can't compare the two, but last year we picked up some lovely chocolates at the Bellagio patisserie you mention. We gave them as a gift, and they received rave reviews. In addition to the chocolates, they have lovely pastries and gelato. it's not far from the conservatory and definitely worth a trip if you're in the area.

I looked at the site, that stuff looks really good! Might have to get some of the chocolate chips and make cookies!

Vosges is wonderful, very unusual chocolates. I've tried nearly all of them so far and haven't found one I didn't enjoy. Some are kind of, shall we say, unusual on paper, but actually not so odd once you put them in your mouth, such as the one which has the talleggio cheese in it. You really don't get a taste of cheese coming through so heavily. I highly recommend trying it. The place is stunning too, like walking into a high fashion clothing store, but for chocolate :-)

Wow... fantastic combinations -- I can't wait to try some. At those prices I better add it into my 'dining' budget. :)

As for the bar chocoates, those look great to bring home too, any recommendations?

All of them are good. But, I am partial to the Naga and Red Fire. BTW for the less adventurous, the Wink of the Rabbit caramels are excellent, as are the marshmallows with chocolate.

Oh, I think I' ove the Naga -- sounds wonderful. I'm not too sure about their new "Bacon" chocoate bar... maybe that is one of that you'd consider "unusual on paper". :)

I haven't tried it yet either, tho I certainly want to. I'm on the east coast, and there's a Vosges in NYC, which is where I work but it's downtown. I might be there this weekend - my neice is coming into town and we may take her there to shop and such, so I may have to make a pit stop into Vosges to try the bacon bar :-)

I think you'll have to give us a review onf that chocolate bar alone. I certainly would like to hear what you thought (before trying it myself!).
