Best tuna fish salad in nyc?

peppermintpatty Jul 14, 2007 06:30 PM

What are your favorite places (delis, restaurants, bagel stores etc) for tuna fish salad in nyc?

Fairway's "healthy" tuna salad is delish! They say it's "healthy" because it's made with tofu mayo... the whole thing really works because the mayo doesn't overpower their mix of tuna, carrots and herbs. yummy.

The tuna melt at Eisenberg's is usually good. Don't expect A's Do Mar, Ortiz, or Flott premium tunas, but it's good. Link: http://www.menupages.com/restaurantde...

I wasn't bowled over by the Eisenberg tuna sandwich. Please don't shoot me for saying this, but I've had as good from numerous corner delis. Sure, the atmosphere's adorable, but that's it.

I had enjoyed Eisenberg's tuna until I bit into the tip of a rubber glove. Kind of lost the luster after that....

I rarely order plain tuna salad (not a veggie person) but I love tuna salad sandwich. For the lighter versions (with less mayo but tuna in olive oil), I like the ones at Bouchon Bakery and wichcraft. Eisenberg got the classic American style right in a hefty size!

tea & sympathy in the west village makes a tasty tuna salad.

                Here's the secret from Eisenbergs...

... they put the tuna in a blender.

Thanks for the tip, now I can replicate it at home. That and a ton of Hellman's (I say that with love, I have a soft spot for Eisenbergs).

Agata & Valentina on 79th and First. Great fresh tuna. Their halibut salad is also great.

Sarges on 3rd ave has awesome tuna and so does Daniles bagels right across the street.

It's not your typical mayonnaise tuna but I love the balsamic tuna salad at Murray's Bagels.
