India's Tandoori moves to Wilshire

India's Tandoori, which was a reliable if not spectacular Indian restaurant on Pico, has reopened at 5468 Wilshire after their fire on Pico.
The good news is that for those of us suffering souls who work on Wilshire, there is now one more decent place to eat in the area, they're starting a lunch buffet next week for $8.95, and they have free delivery over $15.
The bad news is that the service is kind of confused and it's just the same old India's Tandoori as the last 15 years -- that is, standard Indian menu, nothing particularly new or different. They took over that strange Russian banquet hall that was always closed, and didn't do much to it except hang up some Taj Mahal paintings.

As a devotee of India's Tandoori, I'm thrilled with the move. Now, instead of delivery, I can just stroll up the street and around the corner and pick it up myself. They have a great vegetarian combo..the bengan bartha is perfection. Glad to see something new in the neighborhood.
I will have to disagree with you on a few accounts. One is that the Russian place was completely different with the interior. You couldnt even tell the designs on the wall since they were all white. It looks different just by the different paints on the walls. Plus they placed a counter with wine glasses in the back. It looks much different than the Russian place that i have been to :)
I've never been affected by any sort of confused service either, very friendly and helpful.
I went on their "opening night" and the service was extremely bad. We waited three hours for our food, no joke, with no apology or anything. Lots of people got up and stormed out angrily. I used to go to India's Tandoori on Pico and never had a problem, so maybe it was just because it was their opening, but it was bad. When the food came it was decent but it was actually cold, even after waiting so long. I am willing to give them another chance since I live so close and everything, but it was bad.
