VONG - Good Bye...
My office is located in the same block as VONG, so I do go there for lunch quite often because of convenience and their attractive prix fix lunch menu. Before Spring this year, they used to have a 3 course $25 lunch menu with 2 options of each course. I pretty much tried all of their combinations -- coconut chicken soup pretty tasty, skate nice, duck very rubbery and almost un-edible, sorbet divine. Early this summer, they started offering an even more attractive menu -- $20 for 2 course lunch with 2 choices of dessert. There is about 20 items or so in the menu to select from, so this would turn out to be a better deal, no?
WRONG.
Today was my third time sampling their Summer Lunch menu and I have decided that VONG has gone way downhill and there is no way I am going back there again.
The coconut chicken that used to be good is now horrid, the hanger steak was tough. The Pad Thai is probably the worst I have ever tasted.
Sorbet, is still delicious and about the only thing good in this restaurant.
Service? Let's not go there.
