Does anyone have any information about a new Vietnamese cafe at 75th and Quivira? It is just south of Dillons. The window said something about it being a coffee house and bakery (I think). Thanks.

It's called Cafe Song, they have a website cafesong.com, I signed up and got a coupon 20% off for lunch. So far it's not open yet, even though it was said to open August 24, then changed to August 31.. and now they claim they are waiting on an inspector. Are there any Vietnamese restaurants you go to right now?

Just checked and they are opening tomorrow, with the rainy weather, thinking I might hit it sometime this weekend, so I'll let you know what I think of it.

I just had lunch there. Today should probably be considered a limited opening. Cafe Song has some work to do. The service and decor were both very good. The food was another matter. I started with some spring rolls. The outer wrapper was tough, I could not bite through it. I sort of split the wrapper open and slid the contents into my mouth. I gave up on the 2nd roll. The beef Pho was much better, but still a bit bland. I think there is balance between a nice mild broth and an overpowering broth. I like to be able to taste the ingredients of the soup and I certainly could. Still, the broth was almost flavorless. It needed just a little something more. Overall, I will give it another try in 3 months or so. They need some time to work out the kinks. For now, I will stick to Saigon 39.
