Burlington: Kaareli's and The Black Tree
I have tried Kaareli's on Elgin Street and Brant Street
Nice setting, cool staff, great prices, lovely patio........
Anyone else gone there?
Also was wondering if anyone has tried the Black Tree Restaurant
near Guelph Line and New Street
I heard it was very very good:)
Thoughts and comments?
I've been twice to the Blacktree with a large group and was very happy with both service and food - the service is exceptional and the food quite creative. Definately worth a try. It is a little hard to find (right next to the shopper's drug mart on New Street/Guelph line)
Yes my friend told me the BlackTree it is in a strip mall in the BACK alley......
We are set to go for dinner this week:)
I just got in from Kaareli's
They have INDUSTRY NIGHT
Cheap drinks and food
Note: they call it KINS (Kaarelis Industry Night Sundays)
It is for servers, bartenders, hotel staff
you should bring a pay stub to prove you are industry, but tonight they were okay with it as most knew everyone etc
At the risk of sounding like a cheerleader: Blacktree may be the best restaurant in the Burlington area at present. Chef Matteo Paonessa is very talented and has worked with Thuet, Susur, and Stadtländer among others. His dishes are complex and he has quite a knack for getting all the components to harmonize with each other. The menu changes monthly so chances are you'll be trying something different each visit. The menu only sketches out the basics of each dish; there is a lot more to them. I've dined there a number of times and he has never failed to impress me. Make sure that you leave room for dessert; there are some offbeat selections but they are amazing. Very highly recommended.
