Disappointed in Bluebird Red Velvet

Gosh, after trying to get to Culver CIty on a weekday for Bluebird, I was a little disappointed by the red velvet cupcake I heard so many raves about! I (seriously) could taste the dye in the cake and I thought the frosting was too thin. I will admit, I like a strong cream cheese flavor in my frosting, and can understand that not everyone likes an inch of sweet cheese (a la doughboys), but this frosting almost tasted like marshmellow.

On the plus side, I though the cake was moist and the denisty was perfect.

Oh well, at least they were only $2.25. Did I misorder?

I've had their full red velvet cake, I don't think I've tried it in cupcake form. No Ritz dye taste. Full on cream cheese frosting. An excellent red velvet cake.

Ritz dye is for clothes, I hope you never taste that in anything....LOL

What about Jamaca's Bakery on Pico, just east of Barrington. I love their red velvet cupcakes!
