Produce/pies/farm-fresh stuff on LI, South Shore?

Hi, we're driving from the city to the South Shore this weekend (Long Beach area), and I was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for places to buy local produce (or just good produce in general) - corn, fruit, etc.; also looking for pies! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Correction to my last post - Fruggies is between Hempstead Tpk and the Southern State - no Jerusalem Ave exit to Merrick Ave.

I think they do have some locally grown stuff - last year they were growing on their property. Haven't been there yet this year, so I'm not sure about now.

Used to go to Grossman's farm in Malverne, as a kid. I think they're still there. They're on Ocean Ave., just south of the Southern State. (exit 17?) You can either take local roads to LB, or hop back onto the SS to the Meadowbrook.

If you're taking the Meadowbrook to LB, it isn't too far out of your way.

Don't know of anything in or near LB - grew up there, but now live in Merrick.

There is a nice farm stand in East Meadow, on Merrick Ave. I think their produce is organic. They also have nice baked goods - never bought since I bake, but it looks good and fresh. Store is called Fruggies? It's east of the Meadowbrook, between Hempstead Tpk. and Jerusalem Ave.

Just south of the farm stand in North Merrick is Pat's Farms. Their claim to fame is price - the produce is way less than the local stores, but doesn't look as nice. That's where I usually shop for me - Fruggies for company.

I don't think that place on Merrick Avenue particularly carries local produce though, which is what the OP was looking for.

Nothing so special in Nassau, I don't think. Think there's a farmer's market in Lynbrook, but I've never been there. The farmer's market in Islip is supposed to be very good.
