What sides to serve with BBQ duck?

I'm going to grill a couple of whole ducks this weekend (actually indirect grilling, where they are essentially roasted on a grill away from the fire) and am looking for a couple of good sides-I'm thinking about sweet potatos in the embers. Any other suggestions? Note that I'm not doing much to the ducks-a little garlic and ginger stuck into the fat, and seasoned with salt and pepper.

  1. Nice leafy crisp greens with a garlicky honey dressing. Some mushrooms, too? Grill them up and add them warm to the cool greens.

    1. How about grilling some fruit to serve with the duck? Fresh pineapple slices, peaches, nectarines, plums......

      1. I thought of something else. Baby bok choi. Slice in half lengthwise and stick them on the grill with some oil salt and pepper.

        1. I think it's because you mention ginger, but the first thing that sprung to mind was a quick Asian-esque slaw of thinly shredded Napa cabbage, red pepper, carrot and snow peas tossed together and then dressed with rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, honey, fish sauce and hot pepper flakes.

          1. Cooked chow mein noodles stir-fried with fresh minced garlic and ginger with equal amounts of soy sauce, sriracha and hoisin splashed in. When the noodles are done to your taste add a bunch of chopped green onions (4 or 5, green and white parts) and mix in.
