Nora for a large private dinner party?

  • 2

I am in a jam and need a private room in 2 wks on a Wed. night for a dinner for 50 people, has to be a completely private room (no open walls to other parts of restaurant). Many places w/this kind of room in downtown area are booked, or they are just too stuffy (Willard, Occidental, etc.). Restaurant Nora has a nice private rm, the Gallery Rm., and would be a good match for the person being honored at the dinner. I have eaten at Nora's in the past and always enjoyed it, though I haven't been there in the last 2 yrs.

Has anyone had a private party there in recent history, and if so, how was it for food and service?

Thanks in advance.

  1. I always preferred Asia Nora to Nora, though I know their previous chef just opened proof. I've never been terribly impressed by the food at Nora. It's always been good but at that price point I always wanted something a little bit more.

Some places I might consider for a dinner for 50 in a private room are Firefly (not sure how many the back room holds), Vidalia (has the side room which I believe is completely sealed), 2941(out in VA, but gorgeous and with a couple of nice sealed rooms), Tallula (again in VA, lower down the scale than some of these, but has a completely sealed back room), and I'm sure I can come up with a few others for you as well.

I've had several work dinners there and they have done a nice job... Have not been to Firefly. I like Vidalia, but don't like the "underground" feeling.
