Dinner in Oahu
I used to live in Oahu when I was a kid and really the only places that I loved to eat at were Shirokiya and Kim Chee 2. I am going back at the end of august with my best friend who has never been to Hawaii. Does anyone have any recommendations for a festive/ celebratory dinner? I would like a place with great food and atmosphere, also with a great bartender/wine selection. Thank you!

I think you should consider having dinner at Alan Wong's and sit at the Chef's Counter where it is quite lively and fun. You'll be able to introduce your friend to local flavors gone upscale. They have a very well constructed wine list and the sommelier and servers are excellent. The bar provides great cocktails as well.

re: Yoshio
I heartily second this rec. I've never had less than a stellar meal, wine, service at AWs, whether at the Chef's Counter, or seated. Make your reservations early. You might also want to mention that you were an Island resident in the past - never hurts to point these little things out.
