Pop Ups

What in the---
When I click on a thread with a new posting that I haven't read, I keep getting a pop up about some sort of survey. Are you kidding me. Is this the direction that Chowhound.com is now taking.

Edit: I just got that pop up again, as I clicked to post this.

  1. Our advertising generally comes to us from third party servers, and we don't have direct control over it. We've had issues with pop-ups coming through in the past and had them removed, but they've come back. We're working on having them removed again.

Ok, thank you. Glad to hear that. I also realized that I had my pop up blocker turned off.

Those stupid things are getting through the popup blocker! Mine is turned on and I still get them.

Please make them go away as soon as you possibly can.

    2. The site has been very "jumpy" for me today, adjusting 3-4 times before the page is fully loaded and causing many miss click's etc.

I then realized, the banner and side ad's are back. I downloaded some kind of ad blocker that took them away but now I notice they are back. I downloaded an ad block someone recommended in a thread here....but I searched and searched and can't find it. When I do the searches there are suggested down loads, but those are advertisements as well.

So I'm sorry but could someone recommend or supply a link for a good ad/pop up blocker. I'm using Chrome and Window's 8 if that matters. Thank you in advance.

I think you're looking for Adblock:

Whenever I bring up a new screen, I have to wait until it quits jumping around before I can do anything.

Can't the CH programmer techs do something to smooth this out?

          1. re: Sharuf

Yes exactly and when you click to soon you click the wrong link etc. Try Adblock it really does help!
