Tastes of Thailand festival, July 14-15

vorpal Jul 11, 2007 06:23 AM

This is just a heads up to let those of you who are unaware know that the Tastes of Thailand festival is happening in Nathan Phillips Square this coming weekend (i.e. July 14th and 15th). There will be a number of different Thai restaurants from our city (including Young Thailand and Pi-Tom) present there, and many shows and other vendors.

If you're interested, more info can be found on the webpage (which I couldn't get to render in Firefox and had to find a Windows computer and use IE... YMMV):

have you been before? what did you think of it?

considering that we lament the lack of authentic thai cuisine and the likely majority of representation will be toronto restaurants that hounds have debated and been to countlessly... i could easily see that the food side of this will be a frustrating experience in overpriced take-out.

i have seen photos of previous years with dancers and the cultural aspect looks quite entertaining.

It's a nice opportunity to connect with the T.O. Thai community, but there are no great food surprises.

This will be my first year attending, so I have no idea what to expect. I'm not hyped about the food aspect (well, except for getting some Young Thailand easily instead of hauling myself all the way over to their new location), but more the vendors and entertainment, personally.
