Dinner Thursday, where?
I'm going to be in The City Thursday evening for dinner with three friends. I want to go out. I'm thinking that I've had enough of the City's Asian delights for now and wanted something more Euro. We could go to Fringale, The Basque Cultural Center or ??? Where would you go, and what would you order? Thank you very much.
Basque Cultural Center is in South San Francisco and the food's not particularly great.
If you're in the mood for Basque, Piperade, the new restaurant of the original chef-owner of Fringale. He also has a tapas place, Bocadillos, but it's not very well set up to handle parties larger than three.

Piperade is great!
Chapeau and Chez Spencer are good options for French food.

Chez Spencer is ridiculously good, if you're in the mood for a splurge.

I thought Chez Spencer was good, but not great. If you want really good French food, try:
La Terrasse
Clementine
Chapeau
Les Amis

Chapeau! and Clementine are the usual recommendations here for moderately-priced French. Lots of good reports on Les Amis. Very mixed reports so far on the relatively new La Terrasse.

La Terrasse is at 215 Lincoln Blvd, zip 94129, in the Presidio, not 215 Lincoln Way, zip 94122, near UCSF.

Looks like a bug. I chose the correct one but it changed to the wrong one when I posted.

Had a very dissapointing meal at Piperade on Thursday (although it was the Lunch menu). No stand out dishes. I still love their space.
