Commanders post Katrina

JedT Jul 10, 2007 05:52 PM

Heading back to New Orleans for the third time since Katrina (trying to do my part). We've been to most of our old favorites post-storm except Commanders. I know they were late to re-open. Are they back to close to 100% with quality of food? It doesn't seem to be a restaruant that is getting much discussion anymore.

We went there for brunch on a Sunday in April and the food has never been better. It was outstanding.

Went recently, they're back and stronger than ever. Fantastic service and even better food.

I had an extraordinary meal there in May, but I was there with a local who is a regular, so they fawned all over us. I had never enjoyed the place as a tourist; going with a local is the way to do it.

Was there on a JazzFest Saturday in May. Happy happy! Great food, spectacular service and everyone even friendlier (if that is possible!) than ever. Can't imagine a trip to New Orleans without a stop at Commander's.

I agree that Commander's is better than it ever was post-Katrina. Had an outstanding lunch there not too long ago and am looking forward to a return visit.
