Delonghi indoor grill -- any good?

Yes, it's summer and the whole world is firing up their outdoor grills. And cooking magazines feature all those happy people enjoying barbecues. And then there's me -- no way to grill outdoors. So I 'm thinking of getting the Delonghi indoor electric grill that was once recommended by Gourmet.

Have you used one, and what did you think of it? I'm not planning to cook meat so much as grilled veggies for salads, etc. I have a Lodge grill pan that I love, but to cook two sliced eggplants and some zucchinis takes forever!

Is the Delonghi as good as a grill pan? Do you have another brand that you like? I need advice -- or at least sympathy.

We have a Delonghi electric grill and find it works very nicely. Normally it got used a lot in the winter when it just wasn't nice enough to grill outdoors. Does steaks perfectly, maybe 5 minutes per side for rare to medium rare. Ours is a couple of years old and didn't come with the glass cover I believe the new ones have but I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. Cleanup is easy.

Thanks to both of you. That's exactly what I was hoping for -- first some sympathy, and then a good review for my intended purchase!
