Help with Barcelona Restaurant Choices Please!
My husband and I are traveling to Barcelona for seven days at the end of July. I've spent quite a bit of time researching restaurants. I've listed below what we think we would like to try. Any reviews or suggestions of must-go restaurants would be greatly appreciated. We are looking for great local places that are not tourist only.
I've made reservations at the following:
Taipoles 53 (dinner)
Can Majo (lunch)
We thought we would like to try Cal Pep, Bar Pinotxo, El Xampanyet, Cuines Santa Caterina.
We had one of the best and most fun meals of our lives with friends at Cal Pep last summer. We waited almost an hour, chatted with other people on line, got to hear Cal himself ordering for people. The seafood was so fresh it seemed to jump into the fry-o-later straight from the ocean. Not haute cuisine, but perfectly done for what it was. The person serving us was terrific and all in all, it was a great experience.
The fun things about small places like Cal Pep, Bar Pinotxo, El Xampanyet, Cuines Santa Caterina and others, is that you can always try them out a little bit a walk out and try another one.
At the Boqueria, I decided to skip most of the time Pinotxo to go to the Bar Central; a little less hectic and crowded, I don't like to wait in line to eat.
I wanted to go to Cuines Santa Caterina but it was empty, and the market was more or less "empty" compared to the Boquerio.
One Place not to miss it Quimet y Quimet (Poeta Cabanyes, 25), it's really small, very typical and very good.
Tapa Ç24 was also a fun place for lunch.
This reminds me that I have to write a report on my recent trip.
