One night in Richmond --

Hi,

I'm a Maine 'hound, heading to Richmond on business tomorrow. I'll only be in town for one night, and am looking for advice on the one spot I should hit for dinner. I'm staying by the airport, but anywhere in cabbing distance is fine, and price isn't important. Any help would be much appreciated.

These, in no particular order, are all less than 10 miles from the airport:

Can Can, French Brasserie, Carytown

Mamma Zu, fabulous Italian, Oregon Hill

Edo's Squid, same owners as Mamma Zu and same fabu food, The Fan

Hill Cafe, neighborhood cafe with good American contemporary, Church Hill (closest of these recs to the airport)

Kuba Kuba, Cuban, great atmosphere and Tres Leches cake, The Fan

Comfort, traditional southern dishes, Downtown

can can gives you a fun place to walk around and people watch in carytown. the food isn't as good as the atmosphere but it'll give you a feel for richmond.
unfortunately nothing's too close to the airport!

Edo's is closed until July 17 for vacation ::::Sniff::::: Not sure about Mamma Zu's. I think Comfort would be a great place for someone from Maine to experience some good southern food. We had a great meal there Monday night.

Thanks for the recs. Had decided on Comfort, when I found myself trapped in the Philadelphia airport for hours on end. By the time I got to Richmond, it was very late, and I had to eat hotel food. I'm returning to the city in a few months, though, with time to get out and about, so will have a chance to explore. Thanks again!
