Good not-expensive sushi lunch in the village?

Any recommendations for under $30 sushi lunch in the village?

  1. I am a big fan of Sakura Hana - it is over on Hudson, between Jane and West 12th. Really nice people work there, and the service is super speedy. Say hi to Floyd!

    1. Sakura on Mott St. b/w Houston and Prince. Great specialty rolls, fresh sushi.

      1. Sharaku on 9th street 2-3rd ave has always been great for me. Order their village jumbo sushi platter, its huge but goood.

        1. I like Shima on 2nd ave. very much. As for the west village, Yama on Carmine is good.

          1. Thanks for the suggestions!

            1. Not available for lunch (as it only opens for dinner) but I thought I will just throw it out here:
Kanoyama in EV has a omakase sushi plate for $30. It is not the same as the omakase you get from the sushi bar (as in no limit omakase sushi), but it got the basic sushi right. The best part is the anago sushi with the whole anago "filet". Even I don't normally get this specific omakase, I always order the anago sushi / sashimi when I am there.

              1. Kirara on Carmine Street. GREAT quality!

                1. Yama on Carmine between Houston & Bleeker. if you are eating alone and not drinking under 30 is manageable.

I work nearby and have yet to have a bad lunch there, I guess I never expected much as it is a lunch only place for me, not a real destination place.

On the other hand when I take out clients it is usually not on my list of places to go.

I guess it is all about expectations

                  1. my fav is hasaki though i think they are closed mon. tue.
