I am looking for "local restaurants" close to WDW
Okay, I watch too much Food Network...but my family is coming to WDW in September and I am looking for great eats OUTSIDE of the park... places that the local's love, that a tourist would not discover....

I suggest you do some homework first. The board's search function, while not quite up to Google standards, can be helpful in locating such restaurants.
Search for Kissimmee, Disney area, International Drive, Lake Buena Vista and read the more recent posts. They can be quite helpful.
Then come back and ask about specific types of restaurants, etc.
Keep in mind that the Orlando area is a huge, sprawling place. Where you stay and how mobile you are is important -- as well as how far you are willing to drive for an interesting meal.Bob

I used to live down that way and can suggest a few. Randy's on Hwy 27 just a block or two north of hwy 192. this place serves fried catfish and steak all homestyle florida.
I also like JB's sports bar on kirkman at conroy(a little hike from disney). They have the best buffalo wings in the hood.Flippers pizza is always good too!-

We haven't been to Randy's but I've seen it from the highway- there is a lot of construction in that area so be on the lookout- when you are headed N it's on the Sbound (left) side of the road. We were going to check it out on our way back from someplace but there was too much Sbound traffic.

re: Sobe
There was just a thread on this - it was the Orlando locals' favorite - check back a day or two ago.
We like Roy's on West Sand Lake:

Cheers!
