Humongous pressed tortas at Puebla Mini Market

5th Ave. between 39th & 40th in Sunset Park. I'd passed the place many times and been intrigued by the extensive torta menu posted in the window, so I decided to pick one up and eat it in the park. They have about 24 choices, $5-7 each. I had a number 20, which had pernil, ham, carne asada, queso fresco (kinda like Indian paneer) and queso (a white cheese--is there a cheese that's so standard in Mexico it doesn't need a qualifier?). It was garnished with avocado, tomato and best of all smoked chiles. The carne asada was the weakest link, pretty tasteless, but the pernil (served chopped) was quite good. The meats are cooked on the grill, then stuffed along with the cheese etc. on a big roll and finished in the press. Overall an excellent sandwich.
