I tried Sound Bites' new dinner menu last night - Jaime was putting flyers up around the square while friends of the whole crew were stopping by with congrats. The apps are Mediterannean (including Middle Eastern) and Italian; the entrees are mostly pasta and fish. I'm curious to hear folks' opinions, likes, and dislikes as Hounds try the menu!

I started with Muhammara, which I've never tried (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammara), and I was quite taken with it. This one included pomegranate juice and walnuts, and I liked it a lot - enough to do some research on it. Syrian cuisine looks like it'll be my fall project this year.

For dinner, I had Chicken Piccata, which I believed was a test of technique (seasoning pasta, dredging, not drying the chicken, deglazing, choice of wine to deglaze, real stock or canned broth, shallots or onions, real lemon or bottled yuck). I'm happy to say that the pasta was well seasoned and flavorful, the chicken was moist and pleasantly brown, and the sauce was napé. The lemon tasted fresh (and knowing Yasser, I'd expect it); I couldn't tell about the shallots/onions or stock/broth. So I'd better try it again!

My friend had the pork chop special which I'd considered; the rack was nicely frenched. I'll be impressed if they frenched the bones in house, but I wouldn't expect it for this level of cuisine.

I didn't try any desserts... yet.

Thanks for the review--I love Muhammara and haven't seen it on menus around here. If others have suggestions on where to find it, I'd love to hear them.

I've ordered it from Reef Cafe. I didn't actually like it, but I just don't like muhammara to be honest. It seemed good objectively.

Other obvious places to find it are the Watertown stores (Massis, Arax, Sevan).
