Anyone know a place in manhattan to get these? they're basically frozen fruit bars. The best are usually all natural, not too sweet, but full of fruit flavor. Will come in a wide assortment of flavor, often tropical. I found a place in Port Chester that has great ones, but haven't successfully found one in the city.

Thanks,

You can find Sley brand paletas at Tehuitzingo, in the far west 40s (http://www.eatingintranslation.com/2005/02/tehuitzingo.html) and La Michoacana Paleteria popsicles at Mi Pueblo Minimarket on East 116th (http://www.eatingintranslation.com/2005/09/mi_pueblo_minim.html). Other Mexican groceries in that stretch may carry different varieties; it's worth a walk around.

Thank you both for the great info. I had just finished reading Peter Cherches post with the link to the Sley paletas and was thinking it was too bad that they were in brooklyn because it was exactly what I'm looking for.

And now, you've told me that Tehuitzingo, which I go to every week practically, has them. Cannot wait to try them tomorrow and I can't believe I've never noticed them. Although my wife is now sitting next to me, convinced that she pointed them out to me before...

i was just there yesterday. they are there as usual -- up front in a cooler. if you are facing the pay counter, look to the right of it.

you might have missed it because sometimes they stack store supplies on top of it!

the tamarind flavor is my fav, but i like'm all. a perfect treat for hot weather.

just got back from there. they have a good selection of bars, but when i looked at the ingredients list, i was disppointed to see a lot of "xxx artificial flavor" listed. so we ended up not buying any... i think i'm going to try to make my own this afternoon, as soon as i can locate popsicle molds somewhere in the city. BBB and gracious home were all out :(
