Best Indian in the Boroughs?
Have friends flying in from Latin America and they want to eat at the best Indian restaurant in the city...can be a hole in the wall just has to be good. I heard Jackson Heights has some great Indian....anyone have any suggestions for great Indian anywhere in the city?????
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
You'll do better in Manhattan. If they're ok with vegetarian South Indian, I think Saravanaas is currently the best and most authentic Indian in NY. I also think Minar, a fast food place (2 branches but I prefer 46th St.) has the best bang for the buck Punjabi/North Indian style food (basically lunch only). Another good bet would be a midtown lunch buffet. Utsav & Bay Leaf are good, but Chola is the best I've had.
re: Peter Cherches
hard to say that there's no good indian in queens (although I would avoid many of the places in jackson heights except maybe kebab king diner, but I only get takeout from there), where there are tons of south asians living. with that said, spicy mina is still quite good (located in woodside) and one of the better hole-in-the-wall hidden gems. food can be a bit slow since there is but one kitchen and one chef, but, always had good meals there, and CHers concur, if you do a search. menu and map here: (http://www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com/bi...)
