Need dinner recs please!
For...Springfield (IL)...Kansas City...and Dodge City.
I think we're going to have to have BBQ in KC. Our motel is in Merriam, but I'm sure we could drive to wherever is the best.
Could someone elaborate about the sauce at Arthur Bryant's? It sounds like people either love it or hate it...what makes it unique? (I know nothing about KC BBQ!)
For Springfield, I would recommend fine red meat at Gallaghers Steak House on South 6th Street. Great service, good cocktails and a piano bar. Close to Mirriam, I would recommend the Woodyard BBQ . Very nice proprietor lady and darn good Q. They smoke their own salmon too and I think it's on Tuesday when their lunch special is smoke salmon sandwich w/ cream cheese and fresh dill. It looks a bit run down but is very clean.
For Springfield, IL I'd highly recommend a horseshoe. You can't get them too many other places. It consists of Texas toast, some kind of meat, fries, and cheese sauce. Arthur Bryant's sauce is very, very heavy on the paprika.
