It's summer and time for smoked ribs... does anyone know of a good source for wood chips (hickory or mesquite) in Baltimore? I tried Whole Foods and Shoppers, but couldn't find any there. Thanks...

Certainly your best selection will be at BBQs galore in White Marsh or Columbia:

Any store that sells grills, like Home Depot, Lowes, Watson's, Suburban Hardware, etc., is likely to have wood chips. Call someplace near you before schlepping around.

I'm in Reston, but all of the Safeways in the area have them. I can see both WF and Shoppers NOT having them - try a regular grocer. The BBQ places and gourmet places that do have them seem to charge a premium. It's chopped wood.

Wegman's has a few types, one for $3.99 and one for $9.99. I couldn't discern the difference, bought the cheaper ones, and my guests seemed to enjoy the brisket just fine.
