Washington: Rhododendron Cafe and Penn Cove shellfish

We will be visiting family in Washington the first two weeks of August and I was wondering about a couple of restaurants we'd been to in the past. The Rhododendron Cafe, south of Bellingham, was outstanding...10 years ago. Is it still good or even still in business?

We also found ourselves in Coupeville one day and had the most marvelous fresh local mussels in a bar overlooking the water. I believe it was called the Captain's Table or some such. Anyone know of a bar/restaurant that fits this description?

Rhododendron Cafe is still there and still marvelous - everything a country restaurant should be - see their web site:http://www.rhodycafe.com/. I'm pretty sure the bar in Coupeville is Toby's - best bar in town, good microbrews on tap. Also in Coupeville and very good is Christopher's, family-owned restaurant near the museum, and between the two, uphill (you remember, Coupeville's mighty tiny) is the more upscale very delicious Oystercatcher restaurant. Oh, and don't miss the Bay Leaf grocery - all gourmet, all fabulous, though tiny.

Thanks to all for the replies--it sounds like we'll have to make a Rhody run! Also looking forward to Coupeville (don't they have an art fair in August?)

The bar with the fresh mussels sounds like Toby's: http://www.tobysuds.com/. They have great burgers too. Cheers!

Toby's not only has fresh mussels and great burgers, but they also have the world's best fried onion rings.

I don't recall the name either, but it's still there (as of just a few months ago)
