i'm going there for dinner tonight...what do you all suggest i order?

  1. I've always enjoyed their tandoori fish offering....and I love this green dipping sauce that they bring to the table when you're seated - it has a lot of cilantro and mint, etc...

      I love Ajanta and eat there at least once a month.

      The tandoori portabello mushroom is an absolute must order item. You will love it. If you want to order a second app, the lotus root cakes are also delicious, I'd skip the more pedestrian apps like samosas and pakoras that you can get anywhere

      On this month's menu I like the Marzwangan Korma; the red pepper tamraind sauce has a nice tang. The Saag Paneer is excellent. The entire menu is consistently good.

      You may want to consider ordering your dishes a la carte and spending the extra money on an additional app, side or entree. I'm not a big fan of the sides served with dinner, and an a la carte entree is usually served with rice.

      The naan is not the best. It's good, but not the highlight of the meal. The papadam is very good. They make their own papadam, which is rare. The rice is fantastic.

      Even if you're familiar with Indian food, Ajanta serves a lot of regional dishes that you wont find at most Indian restaurants. Don't hesitate to ask the staff questions.

      1. I love the tandoori mushrooms and the prawns bhuna masala is one of the best prawns dishes I have ever had. Flavorful and complex. Pick up their new cookbook as it has recipes for almost everything on their menu.
