Dinner in Venice

I am looking for a casual, but fun restaurant in Venice for dinner with some out of town friends tonight. Pref close to Abbot Kinney. Thanks!

If you want Italian there is a great place on the strand and Dudley where 5Dudley used to be. Thats actually the address - 5 Dudley. Its called Piccolino. Small lovely place thats family owned. They have great home made pastas, seasonal dishes and great deserts. One of my favorites.

It's actually called Piccolo and you're right, it's wonderful!

James Beach? I always think it's fun, in a bar scene sort of way, but I've never eaten there.

I think the 3 Square + Otherroom rec is a great one also.

I do like Primitivo, although I always find it so crowded, seating-wise, there.

There are a lot of choices right on Abbot Kinney: Hal's (pricey for the food quality, but great scene), Primitivo (OK tapas place, but also very lively), Lilly's (good bistro food) and Joe's (more upscale nouvelle Cal cuisine).

One place that I think is great fun with an eclectic menu is The World Cafe on Main Street in Venice. There is lots of outdoor seating there as well.

I'll second the Beechwood recommendation - most fun patio in the area, great food.

Lilly's also has a great patio, but i wouldn't necessarily call it "fun". Primitivo is a great spot, too.

Like Lilly's and Joe's a lot, as well as World Cafe (definitely fun). Agree w/ Beechwood and perhaps 26 Beach or James Beach.

Not mentioned yet, Chaya Venice is fun for a group.

You've also got Axe and Rose Cafe (though perhaps not as "fun").

Rose Cafe is not open for dinner.

I'd go sit outside on the patio at Beechwood or outside at 3 Square. With Beechwood, you could stay and drink. At 3 Square head next door to the Other room for beers afterwards.

I'll second the 3 Square rec! Reasonable prices and good food.

As for Primitivo...I really hated the food, but I might be biased since I don't generally like tapas.
