Where can I buy Truffles?

Where can I buy truffles in Toronto?

  1. Many of the pricey grocery stores (e.g. Pussateri's) sell em in little glass jars (not sure about the quality)... fresh I have not seen... also interested...

    1. I'd hazard a guess and say the Cheese Boutique would likely have truffles... you could call and find out though. I've also seen black truffles (in jars as mentioned) at Pusateri's in Yorkville.

      1. The white truffle season runs from September to December, and the black truffle season is from December to March.

I usually check the Dean and Deluca website for an update on prices (US) and availability. They do have them at the Cheese Boutique in season.

You may be interested in a discussion we were having on truffle oil here.

I'd take a miss on the jarred truffles, but I'm addicted to the truffle cheese at Scheffler's Deli in SLM.

Thank you so much for the info.

Fresh White truffles are available all year, as they are now farmed.
It is a matter of finding out who imports them.
            Jarred Truffles are useless.
Incidentally if you save the peel from the Truffle and put it in oil,you will have Truffle Oil in less than a week.

          2. White or Black?

Either way: Talk to Tony DiMarco, the owner of Harvest Wagon (at Yonge and Summerhill), he can usually help, if not, All the Best Fine Foods (ask for Sue or Jane) next door most likely will.
