Best South Shore (LI) Seafood?

bex Jul 3, 2007 07:41 AM

Happy 4th! I've lived in the city for a few years and will be coming home to take my mother out for the 4th - any recommendations for great seafood (steamers & lobsters in particular) on the South Shore of Long Island?

Check out Arties's (South Shore Fish Market) in Island Park, it's just an extention of the market, but the food is great (it's BYO), or Jordan's. You can order a lobster and sit outside.

Not sure how far out on the south shore you'd like to travel, but my favorite seafood place is Nicky's in Bay Shore off Maple Ave. in the Fire Island Ferries parkinglot. There is no atmosphere at Nicky's, but if you include a day trip to Fire Island (Ocean Beach is the most commercial of the towns) I think you will be happy !! Try the steamers, fried clams and shrimp and some of their homemade desserts!
