Cacio e Pepe recent recs?

I couldn't sift through the over 300 search results to find recent info on Cacio e Pepe so thought I'd ask. What's especially good to eat/drink and what isn't? TIA

  1. I think all of their pastas are pretty good. I've been there a number of times and always take a bite of everyone else's pastas. The menu changes seasonally though. I always loved the bucatini alla amatriciana, but one time, my brother's paccheri with blueberries and boar was the star. The most recent time I went was abotu a month ago, I had a great garlicky but simple pasta in red sauce (I forget the kind of pasta entirely). Strangely enough, I don't really like their namesake Cacio e Pepe pasta much - too salty and one-dimensional for me. I find appetizers a bit boring, but maybe that's my complaint with most antipasti. Can you tell I love this place?

    1. I agree w/janet that you can't go wrong w/the pastas. I personally really like the cacio e pepe dish. There's also a dish with tomato sauce and ricotta that's really good. Gnocchi are heavier than some I've had but good if you're in the mood for a hearty, peasanty dish.

      1. i really like their "red pesto" pasta. made w/ beets and i think it's a fusilli.

          Thanks for the suggestions. We had a wonderful dinner (bucatini for me and fantastic lobster ravioli for my husband) and can't wait to go back.
