Need Recommendations for Large B-Day Party (100+ people)

biotech bob Jul 3, 2007 01:10 AM

Hello Chowhounds

I am trying to plan a lunch/dinner for my Aunt's Big 60th Birthday Party.

With friends and family we expect the number of people attending to be upwards of 100, probably around 120 if we estimate correctly.

I'm hoping that someone out there has any suggestions on a place that can accomodate a party of our size and not break the bank. Most of the people attending are Chinese, but we don't feel like are limited to Chinese restaurants. We have talked with a couple restaurants, and have a Asian-Fusion Restaurant tenatively booked, but thought I would check with the hounds to see if we are missing anything that might be better.

My aunt has friends and family that would be coming in from all over the Bay Area, so we're pretty open to any location. A place that has convenient parking would probably be best.

Thanks in advance for your help!

How about Yank Sing off the Embarcadero? Their atrium can accomodate the size of your party and they do have multiple solid banquet menus. The banquet will also include validated parking in the Rincon Center parking garage. If interested, let me know/reply back to this post because I do know of someone who just cancelled their wedding there and is willing to split the cost of her deposit for the atrium venue with someone who would like to take over her contract.

Hi there, I know of this really nice restaurant in San Francisco, they have excellent food and drinks. And its asian-fusion cuisine. Lovely decor and beautifully set. Its called Crustacean. They have a private dining room but I am not sure how many they can accomodate. You can perhaps call them and find out. The website for this is:

Hope you find a good place of your choice and have a great party!! :)

The food at Crustacean is mediocre at best and it's expensive! And what's the parking situation there?

I'm not sure how many people it accomodates, but Citizen Thai and the Monkey in North Beach has a upper floor that you can rent out for private events, and I've liked the food there in the past, and the service for private events there is excellent. You should give them a call and check on their numbers. There's a parking lot not far away. Open Table also has a list: http://www.opentable.com/info/banquet...
