BBQ Ribs

Hi All,
I am going to SF in a few months and I'm trying to find the best rplace for Ribs. I use to go a place I think it was called "BOBBY Ra BIBI'S" "GREAT RIBS", it was down by the waterfront, but when I was in town the year before last it was gone!

  1. Bobby Rubino's is what you are talking about. It burned down years ago. I adored that place. I used to go there every couple of months with my family. Ahh the moemories.

I just tried looking it up and they phone number went to some crab shack. Good luck!!

    1. Thanks for the info I did a search and saw they are in Florida. Anyway, does anyone know of a good Rib joint in SF?

SF is not known for ribs. Being from the South we figured out years ago to cook our own.

lot's of good asian style ribs.

          2. I had a delicious back-back rib dish at Roy's (Mission & 2nd St.) several months ago. Roy's is a pricey place serving mostly seafood, but these ribs were good and the portion was sizeable. The spicing was more Asian than traditional BBQ.

            1. I had some amazing bbq pork ribs last night at Front Porch. They're dry rub smoked... served with sauce on the side. These are not fall-off-the-bone style. These are a very clean pork flavor, almost like ham.

They're more 'fine dining' ribs, vs. roadside pit style. The chef is from New Orleans and North Carolina. Highly recommended if you're looking for a bit of a different style.

                Where is this Front Porch?

                  29th & Mission. Note that it's a restaurant, not a BBQ joint.

                  From their menu.
"Every Sunday night is rib night."

The ham flavor comment sounds like they have been brined. At least that's what happens when I try to brine mine!

That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just prefer my ribs to taste like ribs...

                  2. Any chance you're planning to head up to the Napa area? If so, Rutherford Grill's ribs with the cole slaw and colcannon potatoes is one of my favorite meals up this way.
