Anniversary Dinner Suggestions? (SD)

Has anyone been to 1500 Ocean since the chef left? I believe it was a few months ago. I'd like to go someplace that has a good ambiance, not too stuffy but excellent food. Last year we went to 910 and it was phenomenal. I'd like to go someplace in a similiar price range and ambiance. Preferably, I'd like to eat in La Jolla or south...

Any thoughts?

Here were some places I was considering:

1500 Ocean
Azzura Point

if you're willing to go a bit north, Cavaillon in Santaluz is very good as is Market in Del Mar. Market is probably the closer of the two to 9-10 in La Jolla. Cavaillon is French bistro-ish style food.

Another idea is AR Valentien at the Torrey Pines Lodge. It is excellent and similar in style to 9-10.

Thanks! I thought of AR Valentienright after I posted this! George's fine dining room just got a good review and I've heard mixed posts on Jack's...

Tapenade is in La Jolla, not too stuffy, and IMO the best San Diego has to offer.

I think Tapenade is fantastic, but I think the atmosphere is a bit stuffy, IMHO

I second the recommendation for Tapenade. It is slightly stuffy though.

Jack's depends on which level you're eating at and what kind of food you like. I liken it to figuring out which level of George's has the best food.

AR's atmosphere is cozy and quiet in a Craftsman style room. I have a hard time calling it "stuffy," although some might b/c it's a quieter atmosphere.

Tapenade is excellent--never had a bad meal there. Less of an intimate space than AR Valentien.
