Recommendation: Thank-You Sweets?

I am torturing a web developer, who is doing a great job putting together a website for me on a tight deadline. I'd like to send a thank-you gift of local sweets for him & his office, but I live cross-country and don't know who's a good choice in the SF area. They have to deliver to Berkeley.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

I think I'm gonna go with the cookies, as they were recommended by a web guy.

And now, when I visit SF, I have an obscenely long list of dessert places to try. I think I'm the big winner, here.

    Thank you all!

Everyone I know at work loves See's. Get a 2-lb box of nuts & chews and everyone will be happy. Mail order is available.

Being an IT project manager for a couple of decades, the developers I work with mainly aren't the types that would appreciate a Miette macaron. As much as I love XOX truffles ... that would be marginal.

What would be perfect is Teacakes cookies ... do NOT get the cupcakes ... the cookies are the thing of greatness ... the cupcakes have had VERY mixed reviews.

The cookies keep well for a long time for those all-nighters (all-weekers). Also they are set up for delivery.

Any cookie I have had there has been great. There hasn't been a clunker and they are more than worth the price.

The only other consideration ... are the developers Indian? Tastes might be different in tha case.

See, and I was going to recommend Teacakes cupcakes, and say do NOT get the cookies -- I don't like the cookies at all (way too sweet for me), but I love the cupcakes.

The don't deliver the cupcakes that I know. Have you tried anyway of the special flavors ... never mind ... I'll do a separate post and not hijack this one. The Thursday pomegranite cupcake is interesting me. I might see Ratatoulle at the theatre so I'll give the cupcakes one more chance. Wish I knew about the eggnog cupcake at Xmas.

I hope those taste as good as they look!! Hey a simple old fashion, good cookie is hard to find, I have combined the city. I am really liking the chocolate chip/toffee ones at Bi Rite.

            You kill me rworange!

Yeah, they are as good as they look with real butter. I haven't liked a cookie as much since the days when Blue Chip opened their first shop ... before they turned into a chain and suffered Mrs. Fields syndrome ... heaven's I'm old. I remember the original Mrs. Fields cookie shop when they were very good ... though I never thought they were great like Blue Chip.

I remember the Blue Chip one location I remember was on Market up sorta close to Zuni? Late 80's I think, they were addicting..

Have you tried the cookies at Bakesale Betty? I was awed by them when I had one last week -- a really excellent oatmeal raisin, which is everything that I always want oatmeal raisin to be. That's a question, actually -- does Bakesale Betty deliver? A few of those pies would be a great treat, along with some cookies.

Pie is difficult to deal with when you are working and not everyone likes pie. I'm sure you can arrange BB to deliver, they are nice people, but the range is not as great as teacakes ... and, IMO, the teacakes cookies are better and they are already set up for delivery ... and that is difficult for me to say since the whole vibe of Teacakes really annoys me. However, the place makes one fine cookie.

My wife brought me some fudge from Z Cioccolato in North Beach and it was really good. It's all made in the shop in North Beach and you can order online

Poco Dolce bittersweet tiles are really tastey and something that is a bit different. http://www.pocodolce.com/

                  I second XOX and Recchiuti.

We do the Frog hollow CSA and so try a lot of their stuff - they do have great peaches for my taste, but their Meyer Lemon marmalade I love. They packaged it this winter with Cow Girl Creamery Mt. Tam, and it was great.

I second the Recciuti. I received a box last Christmas and that was by far my favorite food gift.

Pretty much everything at Crixa is great but if they're still making the cherry pie, it's particularly amazing. Their bakery is reasonably close to the center of town, and the town isn't all that big anyway, so it wouldn't be too much extra torture for your web guy if you skipped the delivery, spent the savings on an extra cake, and sent him to pick it up.
