  1. yuck is what I say to this place. not good at all. don't know how it manages to stay open. pretty greasy each time I've been.

    1. Not sure about the greasy comment above. I never heard that adjective applied to Italian food. I've eaten there about 5 or 6 times although it's been a few years. I thought the food was decent - no wonderful dishes but everything was competently prepared. Decent atmosphere too. Basically a solid neighborhood place.

A little lower review from me. Not only is it not a destination place but it's not on my top 7-10 Italian places in walking distance for Italian food. Within 15 minutes walk you can get to Noodle Pudding, Po, Frankies, Fragole, Savoia, Lucali (just pizza), Lunetta, Caserta Vecchia, Queen....and I'm sure I'm missing some. But, as Bob says, competent and decent to walk in to if on Montegue St. Nice outdoor area. Nice bar area and friendly. You could do worse.

When was the last time you actually walked to Frankies or Fragole? :-)

Well, now that you mention it... I own a car. But, conceptually, I hear one can walk there. I'm much more definitive on the food being better.

I agree not as good as many aforementioned spots, but it's really not bad, and it's definitely not greasy. I have had a fair number of decent meals there - though I think I prefer it for lunch. Their salads are excellent.

The original poster (nyebaby37) did not specify lunch or dinner. If it's for dinner, then I completely agree with Steve's list of better options! But if it's for lunch, then the list dwindles down to Savoia, Frankie's and Queen. Still, if the OP needs a quick lunch near jury duty or something, I don't think Caffe Buon Gusto is so bad...
