Bridal shower in the western burbs?

I need some ideas for a bridal shower location in the western burbs. We will most likely want to do a lunch, but I was hoping to find somewhere that has a charming atmosphere, or at least a bit more special than a restaurant. Any ideas? Thanks so much for your help!

  1. There are a fair number of public/ community owned golf courses club houses, parks and Forest Preserves that make really nice settings. Don't know much about prices or the actual grub, but the pictures that come back seem nice, especially in the early fall and late spring.

    1. I hosted my sister's shower at Cantigny in Winfield. It was held in the mansion as an afternoon tea with sandwiches and desserts. Although, the space will only hold about 18-20 people. Another place that we considered that has a much wider variety of food and a larger capacity for guests is Nancy's Tea Room on Main Street in Downers Grove. They don't sell alcohol, but you can bring wine or whatever in yourself. The only reason we didn't go with them was because the dates were already booked. There is also another tea room in Downers that looked really nice, but was closed for vacation for a few weeks. Can't remember the name though - sorry!! Hope this helps.

Thanks so much! This is exactly the kind of place that I was thinking of. I will look into it a bit more.

      2. After contemplating a number of locations my mother decided on holding the shower for my fiance at Seven Bridges' clubhouse. They have multiple rooms that can accomodate a crowd of almost any size, and the prices are excellent. All of the rooms overlook the golf course.
