Smallish town ( Cincinnati) girl coming to NYC.Read somewhere that you are supposed to tip the host/hostess for a good table. Really? Also, do you reserve for every restaurant. Not talking the Babbo style places here--but we can't afford those this time. Just good neighborhood restaurants --mostly UES .

  1. It is not customary to tip a hostess unless they have gone above and beyond to get you seated. As for reservations, unless you want to eat real early or late, it would be a good idea.

    1. No never tip, "for a good table".
