Mill Valley - Cici ... simply gelato greatness ... and organic

  • 3

I don't even like yogurt gelato, but at Cici it was sheer tangy, clean wonderfullness. My friend an avid chocolate fan who declared the taste of the chocolate gelato perfection chose the yogurt gelato as well.

We both paired it with raspberry sorbet because it was just that good ... made with fresh organic raspberries it was elegant in texture and deeply tasted of the fruit.

They are also very welcoming and will allow you to sample all you want. The cherry vanilla was also full of cherry goodness. They said they were disappointed in that day's batch of apricot sorbet because it didn't have as much apricot flavor as they would like. They were right so we passed on it.

Gelato is served with biodegradable wooden 'spoons', but you can ask for plastic.

My friend bought a bag of their Italian coffee. Though the beans were whole, they perfumed the car in the best way. Next time I need to get that.

It is a lovely, modern store with a few tables and window seats. There are about 20 flavors of attractivly displayed gelatos and sorbets. Just looking at them, piled high and accented with pieces of whole fruit or spices like whole vanilla bean ... is a visual delight.

There's a parking lot in back.

Highly recommneded if anywhere on 80 near the Strawberry shopping mall. It is the East Blythsdale exit. Follow that road a bit till you reach the center of town.

I'm sure you dion't want someone to wind up in Tahoe City looking for the Strawberry shopping mall or the East Blythsdale exit. It's 101.

Oops ... thanks ... yes ... I was on the road a lot yesterday. It was all a blurr.

I forgot to put the brand of Italian beans - Segafredo Zanetti coffee ... just got an email from the friend who bought it, has better taste than mine and is a coffee fanatic ...

"ohmygod! the italian roast was wonderful"

A further update from my coffee-loving friend ...

The coffee beans I picked up are INCREDIBLE!!! Although very different (they are a blend, with a number of peaberry beans therein) I would rank them probably the third best I have ever had! An incredible Kona--- don't remember the estate unfortunately---would rank second and a Jamaica Blue Mountain, Wallenberg Estate first.
