Which one? There is one on Florence and the Best one is on Firestone. Both are near Paramount in Downey. Exceptional Fast Mex Food.

I love El Taco! I've been going to the one on Florence for about a decade. It isn't an authentic taco stand type place though. Although, really good americanized mexican food. I like their Carne Asada Burrito, Chile Verde and Flautas/Taquitos.

I've been going to the El Taco on Firestone for about 30 yrs and occasionally to the one on Florence and the Firestone location is much better. One reason is the cooks at Firestone have been there forever and they are more concerned about the finished product. Same Owner.

I didn't even know about the Firestone location. Thanks for the info...I think I'll try Firestone next time I'm in the area.

If this is related to the old El Taco drive-through in San Pedro, some of the worst "Mexican" food I have ever eaten. Bland beyond belief and not exactly cheap. Honestly, even Del Taco is better.

Nope! Only two locations owned by Toogood are both in Downey.

There's also an El Taco in Costa Mesa that a friend of mine really liked. I've been there before, but I don't remember how good it was. I wonder if the Downey and Costa Mesa locations are related.

Nope!
Different Owners and Costa Mesa isn't even close in quality to Firestone, even thought I wish it was when I'm in that area.

Thanks. Is El Taco considered a chain, then? Or are these just different restaurants, that happen to have the same name? I think the one in Costa Mesa had a drive-thru.

It's a chain and has different owners and quality levels at each location.

I was driving through Rosemead today, and I noticed another El Taco drive-thru on Rosemead Blvd. near Huntington Drive.

i grew up a block away from el taco and ate it at least once a week for like thirty years. No, its not authentic, but its really good and i still go there whenevr i'm in downey. not authentic, but not quite americanized either. I have friends who will drive hours just to eat there. It's unique.

My husband grew up eating their quesadillas...and still has cravings even though we've moved far away. Lots of cheese and some red sauce with bits of meat in them...totally tasty. Even I'm a fan!
