I tried the banana strawberry smoothie at Penguin's Frozen Yogurt tonight. It's the best frozen yogurt smoothie that I've had in a long time. Props to Penguin's.

I've had a really good banana smoothie here myself, also had good plain frozen yogurt once. However, several other times the yogurt was downright bizarre and really quite bad. Strange fluctuation in quality at my nearby location.

Back in the mid to late 80's, Penquins was THE place to go, kinda like Pinkberry's is now. They do say trends are cyclical. Anyways, back in the day, I use to love the peanut butter yogurt. Now they are harder to find, but since yogurt is in an upswing again, who knows, maybe they will be reopening stores all over the place.

I remember those days, and I actually wish they'd come back. It was sad when Penguin's started disappearing. There used to be one in Northridge-- gone now. :(

I went to the one in La Canada this past weekend. I wonder how many are left now.

They have an official website:http://www.penguinsfrozenyogurt.com/
But it doesn't offer much info on locations or menu items. Also, found a link for a pdf menu: http://www.penguinsyogurt.com/menu.pdf
The Penguins in AZ appears to be a different company than the ones in CA...The CA ones are actually Penguin's Place, but no one ever called it that.

There is one on PCH near Torrance Blvd., here in the So. Bay. I like the vanilla yogurt and add fresh strawberries and when I am hormonally challenged, hot fudge. Really good. I too remember when Penguins was IT. I also loved Humphrey's-the place that did "mix-ins" before Coldstone Creamery.

The is a Pinkberry's trying to open on PCH and Aviation. I hope it doesn't. I don't want to loose Penguins or the little place in the mini-mall that has Two-for Tuesdays....

Exactly-- 16 again, with feathered or crimped hair.

I do remember Heidi's, but I too preferred Penguin's. I'm not sure why, but my sister and I really loved Penguin's.

When I went to the one in La Canada recently, it wasn't quite as good as I remembered, but it was still very good. I think nostalgia has something to do with it. I think I'd be happy if there was a Penguin's for every Pinkberry here in Southern California.
