East side dinner, great (cozy, lively) atmosphere

Looking for a place that is reasonably close to the mid-upper east side (upper east side to grand central-ish). Mostly just value good (nothing fancy) food with great atmosphere - August/Po/Little Owl/Bouley Bakery feel but on the other side of town. Any recommendations??

Cozy and lively seem like oxymorons to me but I would be remiss if I did not suggest a tucked-away gem bet. 64 and 65th and Lexington -- Fig & Olive. (They use no butter -- just olive oil -- and you'd never know the difference, the food is that delicious and healthful as well.)
