Sure, but where's the good pad thai in Queens?

It seems to be a common refrain when talking about the serious Thai restaurants in Queens: this, that and the other dish are fantastic, especially such-and-such, but don't get the pad thai. It's not very good.

I know where to get great catfish salad, sublime pork with chili and basil, profoundly soulful curries and any number of other things. But pad thai can be great, too.

I've been too engrossed by all the other stuff in my first six months back in the city to care, but today while enjoying some amazing stuff at Chao, a couple next to us split a plate of plain-looking pad thai and it got us wondering: where do we go for a great one. something with some tamarind and chili bite, moist but with a bit of stickiness and crunch, not too sweet and neither too wet nor too dry? Are the usual suspects better at it than the naysayers claim, or is there somewhere else I ought to go?

Arunee Thai also has really good fried coconut ice cream. :)

I'd like to formulate my own opinion, but, I haven't had the opportunity yet.
