Where to go in Providence if Chez pascal is closed?

Hi, Husband and I will be in Providence next Friday, July 6. Had hoped to go to Chez Pascal for dinner. Just called the restaurant and found out that the chef is away for a week and they'll be closed. Gracie's is booked per Open Table.

Do you Providence hounds have suggestions for alternative restaurants of a similar feel? Prefer not to do Federal Hill Italian on this trip. Staying at the Renaissance hotel but don't mind driving (within reason).

  1. Local 121 - I stopped in for a drink Thursday night. Loved the bar. Beautiful dark wood and stained glass windows. The restaurant also looked beautiful, but was much lighter and more elegant looking. Service at the bar for a drink was very good. I didn't try any food, but will definately go back.

    New Rivers

La Laiterie - I don't think they take reservations though.

If you do a search on the board for any of these, you should find some posts and more details.

As of last weekend, New Rivers was still closed for post-fire renovations. Otherwise, I'd heartily second the recommendation.

I'm pretty sure La Laiterie is closed all next week too. It's a fine Providence tradition to take all of july 4th week off.

SIENNA on federal hill is supposed to be really good. I haven't been myself but have heard from numerous people that the food and atmosphere are excellent!

I'm wondering if your hotel has conseirge services, they may be able to get you in a restaurant that is already booked on open table?

XO- I had a good meal there the other night.
          Good LUCK!

Thanks to all for the suggestions. We ended up making reservations at Local 121. However, I had the bright idea of weeding the garden on Wednesday morning and ened up with a severe lumbar sprain in my lower back. Needless to say, I can barely move and we had to cancel the trip. The restaurant couldn't have been more gracious when I called to cancel. Hope to reschedule the trip in a couple fo weeks. We'll stay two nights and hit both Local 121 and Chez Pascal. Will let you know how it turns out!

I believe Sienna is opening a second location and not relocating.
