New York Pizza and Pasta

New York Pizza and Pasta – 11078 Santa Monica Blvd, West Los Angeles – After reading so many favorable reports about this place on the Chowhound Los Angeles Board, we just had to try it. A tiny place in a strip mall with about 8 tables, no table service. You order at a counter, pay, and wait to hear your number called for pickup. Only one salt and pepper shaker for the whole restaurant, both coated with sticky grease. We ordered a medium sausage & mushroom pizza. It was parched, very dry, almost totally without sauce, thin crust which was not too bad, tasteless generic cheese, and repugnant tiny extruded pellets of sausage, like rabbit turds. A rating of 4 out of 10. Never again.

  1. Are you sure you're reading the same board as me? I've been on Chowhound for 5 years and have never read a review about this place.

The pizza you want is (in my order of preference) at Vito's on La Cienega, Village Pizza on Larchmont, Mulberry Street Pizza in Beverly HIlls (and elsewhere), Lamonica's in downtown LA, Slice of New York in downtown Seal Beach, or San Biagio's in Upland.

There was a flurry of reports on this place a while back. Here is one of them. We too tried it after the raves and found it to be very mediocre at best.
